Originally a part of it’s 2019-2020 production season, ECU Theatre set to perform one of William Shakespeare’s earliest plays - a humorous, slapstick play about mistaken identities. Set in early Greece, the play features two sets of identical twins who get separated in a shipwreck and unknowingly reunite, leading to a comedic mess of false accusations of infidelity, madness, and demonic possession.
When designing the poster, I wanted to focus on minimalism and reflections to highlight the two pairs of twins in the water, a nod to the opening scene of the play, while also playing with woodblock printing textures, which was the standard poster production method at the time of Shakespeare and has been often the standard for most of theater’s history.
